The idea of starting the Indian Institute of Science occurred to JN Tata after a conversation with
Swami Vivekananda. $
Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata group, is an iconic building designed by
George Wittet, the Architect, who later joined the Tata group as the Head of the Tata
Engineering Company Limited. He also designed the Gateway of India and other famous
buildings in Bombay (now Mumbai). $
