I etimes are a little slow; we’re a little late this time.
The first time that I was particularly struck by the fact that we
had not been, up to then, maintaining any reasonably scientific
form of archives was when the government took over and
nationalised the airline into Indian Airlines.
A year or two later, I asked Indian Airlines (for some papers,
but they weren’t helpful). So that was the first instance and
particularly one that meant a lot to me because the whole of
Tata Airlines, at least the record of it, disappeared except what
there was in my personal files.
I did realise that it was almost a duty to keep archives. I
am therefore very grateful for Sharokh (SA Sabavala) and
particularly Russi (RM Lala) for having orchestrated the action
of preparing archives for all our companies and helping the
independent companies to do it. They didn’t need to do much
prompting either, I’m very glad to know that. I am both grateful
