Tata Visionaries - Scripting The Future

The exhibition entitled "Tata Visionaries - Scripting The Future" was inaugurated by F.N. Subedar Chairman, Tata Services Ltd. on February 5, 2011 at the Tata Central Archives, Pune. The underlying theme of this exhibition was "Nation Building". It gave a bird's-eye view of the history of the Tata group from its Founder Jamsetji Tata to J.R.D. Tata, Former Group Chairman.

Through the centuries, these were the men who took first steps, down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision. Their contributions were not only confined to economics, but had a tremendous impact on political and social issues, such as, caste, gender, communal harmony, corporate social responsibility, ethics and value systems. These Tata visionaries contributed to make India the nation it is today. What they said, and practiced, decades back, holds good even today. Their legacies may yet help make India an ideal nation. Tata Central Archives paid tribute to these individuals whose accomplishments started with visions and dreams, and culminated into the blueprints of extraordinary achievements. This exhibition showcases the achievements and contributions made by some prominent Tata visionaries such as Jamsetji Tata, Sir Dorabji Tata, Sir Ratan Tata, R.D. Tata, Sir Nowroji Saklatvala, J.R.D. Tata and Naval Tata.

3rd March, the birth anniversary of our Founder, Jamsetji Tata is celebrated as Founder’s Day by Tata group companies.

The first Founders' Day celebrations took place in Jamshedpur in 1932.

It was D. M. Madan, Chief Accountant, Tata Iron and Steel Company who first conceived the idea of holding an annual gathering that should give each employee an opportunity of expressing his regard for the memory of the genius to whose faith and judgment, energy and perseverance, the Tata group bears enduring witness.

At the same time, the ceremony was devised so as to enable each worker to demonstrate his pride of membership in the organisation.

To this day, as a tribute to the Founder, March 3 is celebrated as Founder's Day with much pomp and gaiety.
