An exhibition titled, “Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (1839-1904)”, narrating the life and journey of Jamsetji Tata, The Founder of the House of Tata is now on display at the Tata Central Archives.
The exhibition showcases the life of Jamsetji Tata, his industrial ventures and philanthropic work which has been categorised into several sections. These sections include: The Tata Family, Jamsetji – The Traveller, Esplanade House, The Textile Mills, The Tata Iron and Steel Company, The Indian Institute of Science, The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, The Tata Electric Companies, The Last Journey and The Birthplace at Navsari.
Each section showcases photographs, letters, memorabilia and other relevant documents.
The exhibits also include the Welfare Measures initiated by Jamsetji Tata, a letter pertaining to the christening of the Tata Iron and Steel Company, the Second Ordinary General Meeting of the Indian Hotels Company Limited, which was the only meeting attended by Jamsetji Tata, Jamsetji’s letter to Swami Vivekananda on the setting up of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Postage Stamps, First Day Covers and Commemorative Coins on the 175th Birth Anniversary of Jamsetji Tata and the first J.N. Tata Endowment Agreement signed by Jamsetji Tata.
The exhibition aims at inspiring Tata group employees, various dignitaries, students and the general public that visit TCA on the life of Jamsetji Tata, whose vision and perseverance contributed to nation building.
This exhibition is open to the general public from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.
